Meet Megan & Leo
Megan Shevlin
Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, IAABC
Hi, I’m Megan – and I help dogs and their people find harmony again.
I’m a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (IAABC-CDBC), but before that, I was just a person trying to help my dog feel safe in a world that often overwhelmed him.
When I adopted Leo, he was silly, energetic, and sweet—but as he grew up, he became reactive, anxious, and easily startled. I know how heartbreaking and confusing it is to love a dog who struggles. I’ve lived it. That experience changed my life, and it’s the reason I now dedicate my work to helping dogs like Leo and the people who love them.
At Holistic Dog Behavior, I bring together science-based techniques, force-free methods, and a deep respect for the emotional lives of dogs. I focus on understanding the whole picture—your dog’s history, environment, emotions, and communication—and creating practical, realistic plans that support both of you.
My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and consent. Whether I’m working with reactivity, anxiety, aggression, or big feelings that don’t have a name yet, my goal is always the same: to help you and your dog build trust, confidence, and calm—without punishment or pressure.
I offer virtual one-on-one sessions and ongoing support for dog guardians across the U.S. (and beyond). If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
Let’s help your dog feel safe again.
Leo
Senior Treat Taster
Leo started as a silly, carefree puppy, but as he grew, he became fearful and reactive towards strangers and other dogs. His behavior change began around the time we moved to a new home when he was 9 months old—a big, confusing shift that rattled his confidence. I didn’t realize it then, but he needed time, patience, and reassurance to feel safe again. Together, we worked to rebuild his trust and confidence, reconnecting through understanding and calm guidance.
Today, Leo is back to his goofy, lovable self. He may never run up to strangers with enthusiasm, and he still has his quirks—he loves rolling in stinky stuff and hates baths—but he’s able to handle the world with a newfound calm. Leo’s journey taught me that real progress is possible with compassion and the right approach, a lesson I carry into every client interaction. If your dog is struggling, I’m here to help you build a bond of trust and joy, just as Leo and I did.
